To convert millimeters to Procreate pixels, this calculator determines the canvas pixel dimensions needed to achieve a target DPI for your physical print size. Procreate sets canvas size in pixels and DPI in the Custom Canvas dialog.

Choose the DPI. Procreate's Custom Canvas dialog lets you set DPI independently. For print-quality artwork, use 300 DPI. For screen-only digital art, 72 or 150 DPI saves memory and increases the maximum layer count.

Procreate's maximum canvas size depends on your iPad model's GPU. Higher pixel dimensions reduce the available layer count. A 300 DPI A4 canvas (2480 × 3508 px) may support fewer layers than a 150 DPI version (1240 × 1754 px). Plan your DPI based on both print quality needs and layer requirements.

MM to Pixels for Procreate Formula

The Procreate mm to pixels formula is: pixels = mm × (DPI ÷ 25.4). This matches the calculation Procreate performs in the Custom Canvas dialog when you switch between mm and pixel units.

px = mm × ( DPI ÷ 25.4 )

This mm to px formula has 3 variables:

  • mm — the target physical print size of your artwork
  • DPI — the resolution set in Procreate's Custom Canvas dialog (72–300+ DPI)
  • 25.4 — millimeters per inch, the fixed conversion constant

MM to Pixels for Procreate Formula Examples

A4 width at 300 DPI

px = 210 × (300 ÷ 25.4) px = 210 × 11.811 px = 2480.315

A4 height at 300 DPI

px = 297 × (300 ÷ 25.4) px = 297 × 11.811 px = 3507.874

A5 width at 150 DPI

px = 148 × (150 ÷ 25.4) px = 148 × 5.9055 px = 874.0157

The reverse formula is: mm = px × (25.4 ÷ DPI). If your Procreate canvas is 4096 × 4096 pixels at 300 DPI, the print size is 4096 ÷ 11.811 = 346.7 mm per side — roughly 34.7 cm or 13.6 inches.
